Im a musician from Denver
What I post will never be the same as the last
Music should never be about what is trendy.
Music should be about what is INSPIRED and ARTFUL.

Low Leaf ☂ Pure.Love
     ~Weaving Chrystal Plumage~

When I was in LA over the summertime, my friend and were walking to the train station to take the train to meet some friends when we heard the sound of a harp coming from the terminal. There sat a dude with nappy dreads, and a beat up harp and damn he was playing his heart out with only 2 people around.. We sat there and grooved out until he was detained by a security guard for assumably unlicensed street performance(to which was greeted with riotous boo-ing by us) I remember thinking to myself how spectacular of a modern instrument a harp can be if it’s applied with the right style..

When an artist comes from California(especially LA) it’s hard to tell just how much hype actually surrounds that artist, since LA is basically a self sustaining hype factory all by itself. The artist of whom I’m presently referring to known as Low Leaf and she just might be the most talented female multi-instrumentalist I’ve ever come across. Low Leaf plays the harp, piano, cello, she also does vocals, all the production and programming and who knows what else she’s capable of…
Creativity literally flows from this girl’s fingertips. What comes out of those fingertips is sheer brilliance with so much intellect, musical skill and so much more than just a sense of “fetishist”pop sensibility.
She has got tracks where she sings and delivers real hip-hop/R&B infused harp-based pop songs and then she has songs that are straight up experimental electronic music or interpretive avante garde compositions with real instruments.
If anyone ever go’s as far as name a microgenre “Harp-Hop” you can bet your ass that it was coined when talking about Low Leaf.
The best way I could describe her present sound is..
“Joanna Newsom and Flying Lotus having a wet dream inside Bjork’s Vespertine”

The track I’m posting is called “Pure.Love” and it’s a polyphonic loom that weaves you so deeply inside its warm threads that you feel like you’re wrapped in a glistening cocoon as you listen to it. I guess that makes her EP title “Chrysalis” rather fitting for her music. “Pure.Love” showers you in golden flakes of sound and floods your ears with snow white feathery textures until you feel well…Pure.

Check out this amazing video of Low Leaf performing a currently unreleased track called “June Gloom” ((((REALLY, WATCH IT))))

I couldn’t end this post without embedding this awesome electronic collab she did with a producer named Snorlax

Surf (feat. Low Leaf) by Snorlax [C.Farwell] If you couldn’t tell I’m stoked as hell on this project and I hope catch her in person when I’m back in LA in january. BUY her EP NOW.   and follow her lovely Tumblr
