Do you guys remember that rad artrock band from Atlanta named Red Sea? I’ve been a big fan of them since 2010 but havent had any new material to sink my teeth into since then. I guess, a former member of Red Sea recently released a solo album under the name Blonde Mom and yeah, its pretty damn good. The album; entitled Pressures certainly has that similar experimental artrock guitar style but it truly is a unique creature as a whole. This post is a splice of 2 tracks “New Groove” and “Fire”, Pressures makes no attempt at sounding cool, but instead runs more along the lines of quirky and sounds dissonantly catchy. 

Blonde Mom is similar to some weird gummy candy you’d find in a healthfood store. The first piece might not be the sweetest thing you’ve ever tasted, in all honesty it’s taste and texture is downright abnormal, but after a few more pieces you’ve suddenly realized you’ve ate 12 boxes worth of the addictive little things. There are certain songs and passages on this album that I honestly think Blonde Mom’s debut effort brushes with greatness. As with Red Sea, Blonde Mom commands complete and utter control of soft dissonant melody and truly makes it look easy, when in my experience it’s one of the harder styles to compose.
Check out another 2 spliced tracks from Blonde Mom called “Under Control” and “Embryonic Future”, these two songs are a little less sunshine and a little more shade but theyre honestly just as good.
