Today I bring you a beautifully haunting breakcore rework of the lovely and timeless song “Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday. It starts off with a beautiful blurry piano section and transitions into more of a down-tempo/trip hop kindof style. The breaks cdatakill brings in this song are so blisteringly fast they serve more as fractured violent textures than rhythms. The song comes off cdatakill’s Original Evil part 2 album, he always tends to make albums feel more like a journey or a film score; something that feels more like a full experience. There tends to be lengthy stretches of ambient/soft textures followed by overwhelming breaks with production that only makes the experience feel that much more colossal. Definitely worth checking out.

I’m really stoked to be posting this band that I’ve been enthralled with the past month or so called BATALJ, the band is an experimental noise rock trio from Berlin with style connotations towards spazzy synth heavy grindcore acts.
The band has a new release coming in June and this track is on it. If this track is any indication of the quality of that release then it should be pretty fuckin fantastic. Really colorful sounding grating vocals with dissonant guitars and synths and pummeling rhythms that deliver a beautiful auditory punishment.

Go grab their stuff on bandcamp, if you’re into this raw inspired visceral music like this you should love this band.

I’m sick as a dog today so I’ll make this fast. This album and a psychill compilation called Butterfly Dawn are the only thing that will get me through this day without going nuts with discomfort. I’ve been a fan of Former Selves for a little under a year now I think, I absolutely adore the brilliant spiritual tranquility of his sound.
This entire album entitled Calico Sunset is like wrapping yourself in a thick blanket of dim glowing sunshine. The piano really gives it a cinematic score-like quality too as opposed to a driving ambient drone or something.
The whole record is really worth sinking your teeth into or AT LEAST sleeping to.

I most certainly would’ve posted this tomorrow as it is a relevant holiday for some, however I am from Colorado so… I’m sure you can guess what I will be off doing.
Check out the spectacular doom sounds of Ireland’s Weed Priest, this gargantuan astral colossus of a band breathes a smokey psychedelic tapestry that is as catchy and colorful as it cold, abrasive and grey. These druids of doom’s self titled release has to be one of the finest Doom/Stoner metal releases in the last few years at least. If you dig cosmic metal psychedelia then this band is very much worth your time.

Hello peoplez, I’m writing this from a hotel room in Portland. I havent had much free time or quality internet signal to post as of late but here I am now to share a really amazing piece of music with you and as always.. More to come. :)
It’s no secret that I’m not exactly a big fan of modern hip-hop instrumentals or the ever growing sinkhole of “Trap” music.
However.. It is at this time that I will swallow my pride and graciously eat my words because when I discovered this producer my eyes were opened to a new level of potential for the music in question.
When I saw Pendu Recordings post a link to a REMIX of my enchanting and immensely talented friend Chelsea Wolfe, I was more than a little nervous to hear the potential auditory travesty I was about to listen to..
When I heard the pitched vocal sample and 808 hi-hats kick in my stomach began to grumble and I’m sure I uttered something along the lines of “oh no” but little did i know that a few seconds later my opinion would go sky rocketing in the oposite direction.
I honestly think the remix which was made by the San Francisco producer NanosauR is a stunning achievement and he should be credited as a triumph of his genre.
He has TONS of stellar material and his hyper eclectic remix’s are truly inspired and give utterly fantastic results.
Check out this other remix he made of “Look at your game girl” by no other than Charles fucking Manson.
Which is a largely underrated song as it is

Check out this brilliant track from Brambles. “Half Gramme Holiday” is a stunning down-tempo track that appears to be the first release from a larger release of some kind but the album as a whole has yet to be released. If this track is any indication of the quality of the forthcoming album, I’ll tell you right now; I’m excited. “Half Gramme Holiday” is a gloomy humid hike through the foggy moss-engulfed wilderness beneath a rainstorm of introspective bliss. Anyone who can create an electronic track with this much scenic majesty and makes it feel this heartfelt and organic should be exceedingly proud of themselves.

Which I copped from the always wonderful UnholyRhythms who has been doing her thing on the blogs for longer than myself. Which reminds me, StrangeFires just celebrated it’s 3 year anniversary as a music blog this week. I’ve always been grateful for you who read and listen to my fragmented ravings, as well as the utter train-wreck of different genre’s that I post on this blog. So, yeah. Thanks.
Anyway, really do listen to this wonderful piece of music.
“Detached” will suck you in and as your heart-rate slowly increases it will breathe you out in a dense haze of creme colored smoke and lets you drift off into the air until you dissolve into nothingness.
